BET Networks has announced a three-year strategic partnership to present the Urbanworld Film Festival. Cabbages and Condoms is a chain of restaurants in Thailand that also promotes safe sex, hence the word “condoms” in its name. What is the European Union/Latin American and the Caribbean ...

The question is asked because I suspect that too few Jamaicans really understand the nature of the relationship between the two regions so geographically distant from each other. Sexual health in Turkey

A 700-person survey conducted by Eczacıbaşı Girişim Pazarlama and the Method Research Company found that, of the 100 million people worldwide who have sexual intercourse each day, 15 million of them will be infected with sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). It concluded that, today, more than 65 million people live with STDs, and thousands of new people are infected each year as a result of unprotected intercourse.

U.S. Media Beating Europe in Online Deals
Traditional media companies in Europe should buy more online properties because acquisition-hungry U.S. companies are snapping up some of the best European companies, according to venture capitalist Saul Klein. European firms need to start competing with U.S. groups for deals that would combine their ad sales forces with the huge audiences on social networks. He cites the recent purchase of Britain's social-network Bebo by AOL as proof that U.S. firms are more aggressive. "If you want a [media] business in five years time, you have to invest online," Klein tells the Europeans.

Mobile Advertising Years Away From Breaking Through
Mobile phone advertising is still years away from any breakthroughs, though its eventual adoption is inevitable, ad executives said Tuesday. Speaking at the Reuters Technology, Media and Telecoms Summit, Publicis Groupe Chairman and CEO Maurice Levy told the audience "It will be slow, it will take time but it will be there," he said, because mobile phone advertising is "in the interest of the phone companies, consumers and advertisers. So it will be very difficult to resist."

Sexually transmitted infection (STI) prevention programs can mitigate the health and economic burden of STIs. A tool to estimate the economic benefits of STI programs could prove useful to STI program personnel. The formulas developed in this study can be a useful tool for STI program personnel to generate evidence-based estimates of the economic impact of their program and can facilitate the assessment of the cost-effectiveness of their activities.
