"Black girls are not seeing positive images of who they are and what they can be," said Carolyn West, associate professor of psychology and the study of prevention of violence at the University of Washington. "Looking at the sexual imagery really impacts on the functioning of teenage girls."

Caribbean prison officials are are pushing for more conjugal visits and condom distribution to curb HIV-infection rates among inmates. Unfortunately, they also have a big of a gay rape problem: “[Marcus Day of the Association of Caribbean Heads of Corrections and Prison Services] attributed the spread of HIV/AIDS infections in prisons to homosexual relationships among otherwise heterosexual men and homosexual rape, situations he said were rife in Caribbean prisons.”

Although a new Harris Interactive study reveals that over one-third of consumers say the dire economy will not affect their spending habits, the 60 percent of consumers who will limit their discretionary spending will curtail going out to restaurants (74 percent) and limit their purchase of electronics (71 percent). 41 percent of consumers, however, have no plans to stop or cut-back on the purchase of cell phones, making it an increasingly viable advertising channel.

In slashing the price for the new 3G iPhone, Apple CEO Steve Jobs made it clear that he's serious about bringing the next generation device to the mainstream.
