MYSPACE HAS LIONS SHARE OF MARKET, BUT FACEBOOK GROWING

MySpace attracted 76.35% of all visitors to the 53 leading social networking sites, Hitwise said. Facebook was a distant second with 12.57%, followed by Bebo, 1.24%, and BlackPlanet, 0.87%. The remaining Web sites on the list accounted for 8.97% of U.S. visits.

News Corp, Viacom Send Movies to iPods

News Corp.'s 20th Century Fox and Viacom's Paramount studios will sell DVDs that allow copies of the films to be transferred to personal computers and Apple's iPod media players. The move is an effort to help keep DVDs -- studios' biggest source of revenue -- relevant.

Mobile Web Sites' Growth Spurt To Continue

Some 40% of Web site operators have launched mobile sites and another 22% plan to do so in the next year, according to a new JupiterResearch study. Driving the growth of mobile sites are factors such as the expansion of 3G networks and smartphones and improving prospects for deriving revenue from mobile advertising.
